Student Quote of the Week

I decided to do a grammar unit at the beginning of the year just to give the kids in class a quick refresher. This is so I don't find myself in March having to explain why you can't write sentences like: I don't like to read and write it is not very fun for me at all because i don't like it.

So we're reviewing sentence structure and punctuation. We also reviewed how to use quotation marks. One sentence said: Caleb lamented, "I broke my ankle and will not be able to attend the dance festival."

From the back row somebody chimes in, "Miss! What's lamented?"

So I answer back, "Does anybody know? If I'm lamenting something, what am I doing?"

And I hear it from the left side of the room.

"You're covering something in plastic!"

And I did my best not to laugh. :)
