I've Promised Myself I'm Going to Make Time to Cook.

Parent/Teacher Conference night at school. Gotta love it!

Honestly, I do. Proportionally, very few parents actually show, but I have great conversations with the ones that do. And in 3 years of doing these, I've never had even one bad parent conference. Even if I don't have a glowing report to give, I try to make sure all parties (even the kiddo) comes out of it viewing it as a positive experience. Opportunities for growth and change. Positivity. Working together to get the best outcome. That's what I'm all about. And I think that translates pretty clearly most of the time.

So my life is a little crazy right now, to say the least. Working late nights at school, back as team lead for the Sophomore English teachers and -phew- what a task that has turned out to be. But I've vowed to do it and do it well. No more just sliding by. These kiddos deserve more from us who are capable of giving them more and helping them achieve more. So that's what we shall do... if I have anything to do with it.

We did end up closing an entire week early on the house. The realtor called Friday morning to say all the docs were ready and when could we come in? So we rushed right over and got the deal done. So this week we're having new carpet installed in the 2 bedrooms that have carpet and are doing some upstairs painting. This weekend the extended families will converge on the house in an attempt completely refinish all the wood floors in the downstairs of the house and do some painting on the exterior of the house. Oh. And chop down a massive oddly shaped evergreen growing up the front of the house (literally).

So we have our work cut out for us. It'll be interesting to say the least. I'm happy about my dad coming down to help. I don't get to see him that often and boy is he ever handy. I know P feels like he really needs to be "taking care of me" now, but there's something about having your dad there, no matter how awesome and competent your husband is (or you are for that matter). Dad keeps me calm. And it's nice. The job will get done and if he doesn't know how to do it, he'll figure it out and then he'll get it done. It's very nice for situations like this. So thanks, pops. :)

So if you don't hear from me for a few days, it's because I'm covered in paint and sawdust and can't get to the computer. Never fear, I will return. And upon my return, I shall post pictures of the glorious transformation.

Toodle-oo!
