Old things and new things.

Well, that was quite a weekend! We made a quick trip to OKC then headed east to Rogers to pick up some furniture from Mimi's house. We came home last night and spent an hour or so rearranging furniture to make room for the new stuff in the living room. Poncho didn't even plug in his long-awaited brand new amp he got from dad this weekend. Instead, he spent his time moving furniture around for me. Sweet husband. :)

I started thinking about all the furniture in my house and once again realized that the only furniture I've ever bought outright is our living room sofa and matching chair. And I have some pretty cool stuff in my house. Even though I live hours and hours away from everyone, I'm still surrounded by my family. I have my great great aunt Bea's dining room table and chairs, an antique bedroom set from mom that was in my room growing up, Dani's old wrought iron canopy bed, other various things from mom and dad like desks and chairs, and now Mimi's leather recliners. It's nice to have all these things around. It reminds me of everybody, and even though I'm far away, it makes me feel a little bit closer.

It's going to be a busy week. The kids are coming down on Wednesday. We promised them we'd go to Hurricane Harbor on Saturday. Then Saturday night, P's BFF is coming down to visit and cook out with us.

Meanwhile, bits & pieces is very nearly ready to go. Just waiting to get the official cover file and the chapter image for the "sexual chocolate" chapter. Mmm hmm. It's going to be good. :) The manuscript is in my editor's hands for the final once over (namely to make sure I didn't misspell my name or the title on the cover), and she said she'd have it back to me in the next couple of days. I'm also entertaining some interesting ideas for alternative and creative distribution of the poetry book, which I'm sure you'll hear more about in the days to come. Good stuff goin' on!

Be well. And stay hydrated. :)
