Something to Celebrate

Today is December 21, 2010.  It's the Winter Solstice.

What is this day, you might ask.  It's the day that sun reaches its most southerly point in the sky and begins to move back north.  It's the day that light begins to stay for longer periods of time in our days and in our lives once again.  It is the day, Alice Walker says, that literally makes the first day of spring possible.

I'm celebrating this winter solstice.  This year, and most recently the past couple of months, have seemed rather dark.  Like the sun might not show its face again for a very long time.  Most days, it would be nearly dark by the time I got off work. I'd come home, slink into my chair, and sit there the rest of the night in the dark, wondering what life held for me in the coming days.

But today, quite literally, the light is coming back. What that means for my life, only time will tell.  But today is a renewal-- a rebirth of sorts.  And I'm thankful for it.

I experienced something similar in my life - last Winter.
How neat that an Eclipse would mark this change for you.
Love you Ashly!

Great post! After staying up to watch the eclipse I have to say I felt a shift in the force. As a culture we have become to removed from the ebb and flow of the earth. Been thinking deep thoughts and reflecting. Good things to come I hope:)
