What an exhausting day...

I spent a whole week in preparation for this day... and it went by so fast! It's going to be a different year. I have special ed kids in almost all of my classes and I've never really experienced that before. But i also have co-teachers in all my classes who are there specifically to help those kids when they have trouble. It's going to be interesting. I walked about 3 miles today just trying to get stuff done. Our campus is bigger than some college campuses and luck would have it that my little classroom is situated at the furthest edge of the whole thing. At least it's not 105 outside, because then I'd REALLY be complaining. But it's not so bad-- I just have to remember to wear comfortable shoes. True to form and just as I thought, most of my classes are filled with boys who like to work on cars and race. I'm teching English for the Transportation cluster (career paths), so it's an interesting group. I have a few repeaters I'm going to have to stay on top of this year to make sure they don't end up being 18 year old juniors next year, but I'm typically pretty good at that sorta thing. I'm not one of those teachers who just lets kids slip through the cracks because they have attitude and don't do their work. That doesn't happen in my class... plus, I have a co-teacher who's a big, muscled up ex-military guy who's ready to bark at a moment's notice.

I'm still without a computer and won't have internet access at all this year. That comes with working for the Dallas district. Again, I'm not complaining... it's still way better money than non-profit. :)

Anyway, my husband's sitting behind me on the couch pestering me and telling me to get off the computer.

I'm out!
