Good Credit & Tacky Wallpaper

I remember being little and thinking that adults just automatically knew how to do everything. Like driving a car. And being President. It just came naturally to them. I was sure there was that certain age, oh probably around the 4th grade, when you officially got to be a big person and all that fabulous knowledge that comes along with it. Poof! You just become a life expert!

Well, it turns out, that wasn't exactly true, as evidenced by the fact that I will now be 30 years old in less than a month and am embarking on my first home buying experience. I've worked very hard to get to this point. I've been patient, I've learned how to be responsible with my finances, and I think it's going to pay off. But it certainly didn't come easy. I'm learning how to buy a house just like I've learned pretty much everything in my life, by trial and error and by asking lots and lots of questions. And I think it's going to turn out pretty good for us. We've got our list of non-negotiables (which is not that long, but contains some important must-haves and can't-stands), and we've got our list of things that would be really super great to have but that wouldn't be deal-breakers.

We drove around with a list of places to look at today for about three hours. We came out of it with four houses we definitely want to see. And this is all pre-realtor, so we're just starting out. And we've decided after driving all over the metroplex, east of Dallas is probably where we're going to land when this whole thing settles down. Rockwall's pretty far east, and in fact, we may go just a teency, tiny bit further.

Except we found a house ON the lake here in Rockwall that Poncho's crazy about. So we shall see. Things are definitely looking promising.

The one thing I have to remember is to keep my mouth shut about tacky wallpaper when homeowners are within earshot. *these are things we can change, these are things we can change, keep repeating...*

And so there you have it. Moving right along, I tell you! First, buying a house. Next? Who knows! :)
